• Using 1492 from anywhere in Italy This requires a separate subscription which is paid monthly to Technimedia based on the amount of traffic on the telephone line according the tariff below:
  • Cost of call L.75
  • Usage of port L. 17 per minute or fraction thereof.
  • Time L. 7 per minute or fraction thereof..
  • Volume L. 2,1 per segment (1 segment = 64 bytes)
  • 40% tariff reduction for time and volume between 22:00 and 7:00 everyday and between Friday 22:00 to Tuesday 7:00 as well as national holidays
  • Invoicing cost L. 2.500 per month (only charged if service has been used)
  The above tariff translates into a typical cost of L. 3.000 to L. 8.000 per hour depending on when the call was made and the type of activity being carried out by the user, it is independent of from where the call was made.

• If you already have a Itapac subscription then the MC-link connection charges will be invoiced directly by Telecom Italia. The costs are the same as those outlined above.

• If you don't use 1492 number or you are not an ItaPac subscriber, then the connection charges will be based on standard telephone charges dependent on connection time, distance and time of day.

• You can also connect via Telnet (with no additional connection costs) from any network connected to Internet.

While we wait for a much needed reduction in telephone charges in Italy, it is worth keeping in mind that the MC-link subscription costs less than a 10 minute telephone call per day at peak rates.

This means that MC-link will retain its text interface and optimised to minimize telephone charges. We are currently also experimenting with graphical interfaces dedicated to MC-link.
